Description
A bold composition where the gesture prevails. The artist here fuses the codes of New York graffiti and the fluidity of calligraphy. Action painting guides the hand to trace intertwined letters.
The orange-red saturates the central space with raw energy. This movement contrasts with a dark background crossed by blue hues. At the top of the canvas, a white circle attracts the eye. This finely textured disc evokes a night star whose graphic precision opposes the chaos of the lower traces.
Presentation
Jonas Bournat, better known by his pseudonym Sun7, is a French urban artist who was born in 1977. He discovered the world of New York graffiti in the beginning of the 90s, and started then to tag the walls of his city. He now shares his time between Lyon and Paris.
Sun7 draws his inspiration for his creations from action painting, Arabic calligraphy and Latin tattoos. His work focuses around a word, letters and calligraphy. The image and the word are then subtly connected in a collection of colors. Poetry interferes with the heart of his art and the streets of the big metropolises. Sun7 uses different supports such as canvases, metal and panels.
