Description
The warmth of yellow blossoms meets the openness of blue.
In Spring Parallels, Latvian artist Inna Pupina creates a floral composition filled with light and movement. Yellow and white flowers rise through an atmospheric blue setting, their rounded petals connected by fine, sweeping stems.
Created in 2020, this unique original painting is entirely hand-painted in acrylic on 100% cotton canvas. It measures 70 cm high × 100 cm wide, with a depth of 3 cm.
A BOUQUET IN MOTION
The flowers gather across the left and central areas of the canvas. Some open toward the viewer, while others turn outward, creating a varied rhythm of shapes and directions.
Dark stems provide a clear linear structure beneath the blossoms. Their curves extend through the blue ground, connecting individual flowers and carrying the eye across the composition.
White, lemon yellow and ochre give the petals their luminosity. Pale blue, turquoise and slate provide a cooler surrounding field, allowing each bloom to emerge through contrast.
SPACE, COLOUR AND GESTURE
The quieter right-hand passage balances the density of the bouquet. This open space gives the painting its breadth and allows its floral movement to feel expansive.
Layered brushwork, scattered droplets and visible surface marks introduce spontaneity. Pupina brings together recognisable flowers and expressive colour, creating a painting that rewards both an immediate impression and closer observation.
The result evokes the freshness of spring through the relationship between warm petals, cool surroundings and the upward movement of the stems.

Presentation
Inna Pupina is a contemporary painter whose practice centres on the emotional life of landscape. Working exclusively in acrylic on canvas, she develops compositions that move beyond topographical description toward atmosphere, sensation and inner experience.
Her signature approach combines expressive layering, refined colour harmonies and a sustained attention to light — particularly the luminous, shifting quality of Nordic and Eastern European natural environments. Forests, water and sky recur throughout her work not as subjects to be recorded, but as vehicles for contemplating stillness, time and the passage between states.
Pupina's paintings are characterised by their chromatic depth: violets, blues and greens are built through successive transparent glazes, generating a sense of visual resonance that photographs rarely capture in full. The surface holds both spontaneity and control — gestural passages sit alongside areas of quiet precision, creating compositions that reward sustained looking.
Represented by Abstract Art Gallery since 2013, Inna Pupina's original works are held in private collections across Europe. Her paintings are appreciated for their capacity to transform a domestic or professional interior into a space of contemplation — present without being intrusive, decorative without being passive.
She exhibits internationally and continues to develop her practice from her studio in Riga, Latvia.
