Description
An aquatic scene bathed in light attracts the eye. A white swan spreads its wings in the center of a luminous composition. The artist uses acrylic to build the relief of the feathers and the shimmer of the water.
The technique approaches pointillism. A multitude of colored touches create visual depth. The contrasts are sharp. The intense blue of the canal responds to the solar yellow of the trees in the background.
At the top of the canvas, pink and yellow flowers frame the sky. A bird rests there, adding a note of life to the landscape. Water lilies punctuate the foreground, anchoring the composition.
The rendering is figurative and optimistic. The search for clarity guides every brushstroke. This painting from 2026 captures the essence of a serene nature. It relies on a generous chromatic palette to convey a sense of fullness. The whole unfolds like an open window onto an ideal garden.
Presentation
Catherine Vella is a French painter of Italian origin, whose artistic career spans over thirty years.
After long practicing oil painting, she now works mainly with acrylics. Her universe is characterized by a generous use of color, light contrasts, and a constant search around light and emotion. Her work evolves between two complementary expressions: figurative painting with blocks of bright colors and a more meticulous approach inspired by pointillism. She explores various subjects—Mediterranean landscapes, human figures, animals, flowers, and scenes evocative of travel—while maintaining a personal visual identity. Painting occupies a central place in her life today. Her works have been presented at exhibitions and have joined private collections in France as well as abroad
My painting is above all guided by color, light, and emotion. I seek to create living and luminous works, capable of conveying a positive sensation while leaving room for sensitivity and imagination. I work mainly with acrylics, sometimes with flat blocks of color, sometimes with a technique close to pointillism which allows me to build light through a multitude of colored touches. Through landscapes, figures, animals, or scenes inspired by elsewhere
