Description
Snapshot on Time is a vibrant contemporary work created with acrylic and acrylic markers on canvas, measuring 25 x 25 cm. The painting brings together a dense arrangement of colourful abstract forms, expressive lines and overlapping shapes, creating the feeling of a fleeting visual moment captured and preserved. Bright greens, blues, turquoise, pink, orange and yellow interact across the surface, while the bold black outlines give structure to the composition and create a striking graphic quality. The fragmented forms invite the viewer to discover different shapes and visual associations, suggesting that a single moment can contain multiple impressions, emotions and memories. The energetic mark-making and layered colour give the work a spontaneous, almost playful character, while the compact square format reinforces the idea of a visual "snapshot" - a small but vivid fragment of time held in place. Snapshot on Time is particularly suited to collectors who appreciate contemporary expressive art, bold colour and works with a strong graphic and energetic quality. Its small format makes it highly versatile for modern, eclectic and creative interiors and works beautifully as part of a gallery wall or as a standalone accent piece on a shelf, console or small wall. The artwork will be carefully packed and shipped in a protective box for secure international delivery.
Presentation
Marianne Fanous (b. 1985, Cairo, Egypt) is a self-taught contemporary Egyptian artist who lives and works in Cairo. Although she holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Biotechnology, she has cultivated her artistic practice independently through years of experimentation, intuition, and an enduring commitment to creative exploration.
Fanous draws inspiration from her Christian faith, Egyptian identity, the country's landscapes and agricultural heritage, and the organic forms found in nature—particularly palm trees and the rhythms of the natural world. Working through expressive abstraction, she explores themes of creation, hope, belonging, and transformation, creating paintings that celebrate both the richness of the natural environment and the resilience of the human spirit.
Her practice is defined by spontaneity, expressive mark-making, and an intuitive approach that allows each composition to develop organically rather than through predetermined planning. Rich textures, layered surfaces, and vibrant color palettes create immersive visual experiences that invite contemplation, joy, and emotional connection.
Fanous works across acrylic, oil, watercolor, ink, acrylic markers, and mixed media, often incorporating metallic elements and tactile surfaces that enhance the physical presence of each painting. Her works balance expressive freedom with a deep sensitivity to landscape, memory, and spirituality.
She has participated in group exhibitions in El Gouna and Egypt's North Coast.
Through her practice, Marianne Fanous seeks to cultivate a renewed sense of curiosity and childlike wonder, encouraging viewers to encounter nature, faith, and everyday life with openness, gratitude, and hope.
