Description
Chill It captures the simple pleasure of a day with no plans and nowhere to be. A woman relaxes on a sun lounger by the sea, surrounded by the colourful details of a leisurely seaside escape - enjoying her day off at her own pace. The vibrant composition, expressive brushwork and spontaneous marker lines create an atmosphere of warmth, freedom and carefree summer energy. The deliberately loose forms and vivid colours make the scene feel lively and immediate, as if the viewer has stepped into a fleeting holiday moment. At its heart, the painting is about allowing yourself to pause: putting everything aside, enjoying the sea, the sun and the present moment. Sometimes, there is nothing more important than simply chilling.Medium: Acrylic and markers on canvasSize: 50 × 50 cmShipping: Securely shipped in a box.
Presentation
Marianne Fanous (b. 1985, Cairo, Egypt) is a self-taught contemporary Egyptian artist who lives and works in Cairo. Although she holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Biotechnology, she has cultivated her artistic practice independently through years of experimentation, intuition, and an enduring commitment to creative exploration.
Fanous draws inspiration from her Christian faith, Egyptian identity, the country's landscapes and agricultural heritage, and the organic forms found in nature—particularly palm trees and the rhythms of the natural world. Working through expressive abstraction, she explores themes of creation, hope, belonging, and transformation, creating paintings that celebrate both the richness of the natural environment and the resilience of the human spirit.
Her practice is defined by spontaneity, expressive mark-making, and an intuitive approach that allows each composition to develop organically rather than through predetermined planning. Rich textures, layered surfaces, and vibrant color palettes create immersive visual experiences that invite contemplation, joy, and emotional connection.
Fanous works across acrylic, oil, watercolor, ink, acrylic markers, and mixed media, often incorporating metallic elements and tactile surfaces that enhance the physical presence of each painting. Her works balance expressive freedom with a deep sensitivity to landscape, memory, and spirituality.
She has participated in group exhibitions in El Gouna and Egypt's North Coast.
Through her practice, Marianne Fanous seeks to cultivate a renewed sense of curiosity and childlike wonder, encouraging viewers to encounter nature, faith, and everyday life with openness, gratitude, and hope.
