The Road Through Summer, 2026

Kateryna Kolesnykova

A narrow country road winds through a landscape of rolling hills, scattered trees, and flowering vegetation. The bright blue sky, dotted with soft clouds, opens above a countryside filled with greens, warm yellows, and delicate touches of pink and blue. The road gently leads the viewer into the distance, suggesting the possibility of discovering what lies beyond the visible horizon.
Part of the Notes on the Landscape series, this painting reflects the experience of travelling through natural environments during scientific fieldwork. Such journeys are made up not only of destinations and research sites, but also of countless small observations along the way - an unusual tree, a flowering meadow, the shape of a hill, or the changing colours of the landscape.
Through expressive brushwork and simplified forms, the artist captures the atmosphere of a place rather than its exact geographical details. The painting becomes a visual note from a journey, preserving the impression of a landscape encountered almost by chance.
