Description
The painting depicts a stylized female portrait executed in a textured, almost sculptural manner. The woman's face is rendered in a generalized way: the features are softly blurred, but the expressive eyes draw attention and create a sense of pensiveness and inner silence.
The palette is dominated by light, pastel shades — white, cream, pink — with accents of red and darker touches.
To the right and in the background, suggestive silhouettes of architecture and figures can be made out, reminiscent of the cityscape of Venice, but they almost dissolve into the overall mass of paint. The space of the painting seems to float, losing the clear boundaries between figure and background.
