Description
This riveting artwork is a testament to the unbridled power of abstract expressionism, propelling the viewer into a vortex of color and energy. At its core, the piece emanates an explosive dynamism, with vibrant hues of red, orange, green, and yellow intertwining passionately. The energetic brushstrokes create a chaotic yet harmonious symphony, each stroke radiating from the central point with ferocious intensity, suggesting both a centrifugal and centripetal force at play. Dominant amongst the melee is a striking overlay of bold, arterial-purple lines. These lines splatter and slash across the canvas, imposing an audacious pattern that disrupts the underlying rhythm, yet integrates seamlessly with the surrounding tumult. This clash and blend of elements evoke a sense of controlled chaos, a deliberate dance between order and disorder. Embedded within this tempestuous backdrop is a series of circular forms, hinting at a cyclical nature amid the apparent pandemonium. The interplay between the circles and the jagged lines hints at themes of continuity and disruption, a visual paradox that captivates and challenges the observer. The artwork is a masterclass in the use of contrast, both in terms of color and form. It skillfully utilizes the tension between the spirited warm tones and the sporadic cool accents, creating a visual dialogue that is both engaging and thought-provoking. The juxtaposition of sharp, angular strokes against the softer, swirling motions adds a tactile texture that invites closer inspection. This piece boasts an unparalleled ability to convey motion and emotion simultaneously, making it not just a visual experience, but an immersion into the raw essence of creative fervor. It is a bold statement that commands attention, an avant-garde expression that stands as a formidable testament to the artist's prowess and vision.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
