#19, 2021 From "Un niño en el Chicle" Series
Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemühle paper Unframed
Small size: 24 x 14.6 in. Edition of 10+ 1AP
This surreal artwork presents a striking blend of body and object, capturing the viewer's attention with its imaginative composition. A person is encased in a vivid blue fabric, creating an intriguing silhouette against the soft pink background. Their head is obscured, crowned by a whimsical pink plastic toy, accentuating the surreal nature of the scene. The juxtaposition of muscular, bare limbs against synthetic elements conveys a tension between the organic and artificial. Seated in a clear plastic container, the figure's positioning suggests both vulnerability and confinement. The choice of colors—pastel pinks and blues—adds a playful yet unsettling tone. This piece challenges conventional perceptions, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of identity, concealment, and the interplay between human and inanimate. Its imaginative execution and striking contrasts make it a compelling exploration of form and meaning.
"La Piedra Sustituta" Series Showing a body that is hidden is the aesthetic apology for the insane judgment that the artist himself has taken as an excuse for not being "pointed at" or rather as self-pointing. The stone is taken by the body that is unprotected as a metaphor for the weakness that seeks protection, and the body is taken by the stone as a consequence of an insecure state, how can a stone take a body? If this is the one that "institutionally" does it.
