Bosque de niebla Chicaque, Silver Gelatin Print, 2021

Miguel Winograd

This black-and-white photograph captures a majestic mountain shrouded in mist, evoking a sense of mystery and tranquility. The central rocky formation rises dramatically, its textured surface creating a striking contrast against the soft, swirling clouds. Lush vegetation at the mountain's base adds depth and richness, with varied foliage providing an organic framework that enhances the scene's natural allure. The subtle gradation of greyscale tones infuses the image with a timeless quality, accentuating the interplay of light and shadow. This composition invites the viewer to ponder the sublime beauty of untouched landscapes, while the enveloping mist serves as a gentle reminder of nature's ever-changing moods. The photograph's ability to evoke both grandeur and serenity exemplifies its unique artistic appeal.

Miguel Winograd's work explores the relationship between people and their environment, narratives of social conflict, and the dense interconnections of the Colombian landscape. His work, which occasionally includes portraits of trees, captures the essence of nature through a documentary lens.
