Description

Seth & Nasty - Unique artwork on hand-enhanced photograph

This unique work brings together two major figures of French Street Art: Nasty, the undisputed master of Parisian graffiti, and Seth, famous for his poetic characters turned towards the imagination.

Created from a hand-enhanced art photograph, the composition creates a fascinating dialogue between their respective worlds.

At the center of the image, Seth's iconic child, sitting on the edge of an urban fissure, seems to contemplate an invisible world. This silent figure contrasts with the energy of Nasty's graffiti, which fills the space with its powerful lettering and explosive calligraphy.

The work evokes the coexistence between innocence and urban culture, poetry and raw energy, memory of walls and contemporary creation.

Each manual intervention makes this piece completely unique.

This creation explores the encounter of two complementary visions of Street Art.

Seth's universe invites introspection. His anonymous characters become silent witnesses to a changing environment. Conversely, Nasty asserts a strong graphic presence through lettering inspired by Parisian graffiti, transformed here into a true pictorial composition.

The contrast between the flat areas of deep blue, the bursts of pink, and the photographic textures creates a remarkable visual tension.

The crack that runs through the image acts as a metaphor: that of a fragmented city where spaces of dreams and freedom still exist.

This work goes beyond simple enhanced photography. It constitutes an artistic collaboration where each of the two artists retains their identity while enriching that of the other.

Nasty

Born in 1974, Nasty is one of the historical figures of Parisian graffiti. Active since the late 1980s, he is known for having made street furniture, particularly the enamel signs of the Paris metro, a major source of inspiration. His work is now exhibited in numerous international galleries and collections.

SETH

Born in Paris in 1972, Seth (Julien Malland) is one of the most internationally renowned French urban artists. His monumental murals depicting children gazing into imaginary worlds explore themes of childhood, transmission, and openness to cultures. His work can be found on all five continents.

Presentation

Born in Paris in 1972, Seth, alias Julien Malland, is an urban artist known for his murals usually depicting children. Graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts in 2000, urban art opened up new artistic fields to him, less traditional than those he had been able to study until then. He calls himself a “globe painter" because he has been traveling the world since 2003 to meet new people, to be inspired by artists from new horizons and to spread his art. He is known to the general public thanks to his experiences as an animator. of television programs. The artist has produced reports on urban art for channels such as Canal +. Co-founder of the publishing house "L'oeil d'Horus", he is the author of several books describing urban culture. In addition, he launched the “Wasted Talent" collection dedicated to graffiti and he also participated in the production of the Lascars comic strip.

He began his career in the streets of Paris in the 20th arrondissement where he made his first compositions. The artist draws his inspiration from Miyazaki, famous director of cult Japanese animated films such as Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke, but also from comic book author Hugo Pratt. We also find the influence of Schiele whom he admires, as well as that of his master Klimt. His compositions represent childhood, he depicts a world filled with innocence and recklessness. “Childhood is something that touches everyone. Children have that hope and innocence in their eyes that adults have lost, "according to the artist. “But if I started to paint children, it's because when you travel, you see them everywhere in the street! ". He seeks to transmit messages by choosing to paint in places of passage in order to shock, to challenge passers-by, or at least “to awaken their benevolence". He considers himself a supporter of street art and not of street art, a term that is too reductive according to him and linked to the notion of illegality. The artist is part of a more global movement as he expresses it here: “In street art, there is the dimension of protest, of illegality, à la Banksy. When I travel, I also go to see artists who paint in the street, artisans who make lettering for concerts… ".

We can find his works in China, France or India… Moreover, he has been exhibited in various galleries.
