Description
The instant captures a moment of urban solitude. A female silhouette stands out against a clear sky, still at the top of a stone staircase.
Black and white accentuates the rigor of the architectural lines. The contrast is sharp. The light sculpts the volumes and fragments the space between areas of shadow and lit surfaces.
The gaze moves between the verticality of the wall and the curve of an old lamppost. This composition plays on the balance of masses and the silence of the scene. The human subject integrates into its environment as a geometric figure.
This photograph is part of a spontaneous street photography approach. It explores the relationship between the individual and the city through a precise and stripped-down framing.
The work on textures emphasizes the roughness of the plaster and the coldness of the concrete. The image ends on the detail of a barred window plunged into the gloom.

Presentation
French photographer born in 1982, Fabien Olart discovered photography as a teenager through the photos of Lee Miller, Dorothea Lange and Sebastião Salgado.
After studying communications and image, he became a collaborator with the hemis.fr agency, specializing in tourism and travel. Regularly published in the press (Le Monde, Détours en France, Maxi, Marianne…) as well as in publishing (Gallimard, Hachette, Michelin Edition…), his productions are above all produced in Europe.
Member of the Street Photography France collective, it is in black and white that his sensitivity is most expressed. Attracted by urban life, his work is characterized by spontaneous, highly contrasted photography, playing between light and shadow. The human, often solitary, remains an important element of its production, while being integrated into urban or natural landscapes.
