Description
Black and white sculpts space here with mathematical precision. The gaze is immediately caught by the rigor of the lines. A gridded wall dominates the scene, creating a strict and hypnotic visual rhythm.
The composition plays on radical contrasts. The deep shadow opposes the clarity of a mineral wall. In the center of this monumental architecture, a solitary silhouette settles on massive steps. This human presence emphasizes the immensity of the urban setting.
The framing accentuates the perspective. The diagonals guide the eye towards an invisible vanishing point. Every structural detail contributes to an atmosphere of calm and contemplation. The light, sharp, cuts the volumes with surgical sharpness.
The image captures the moment where the individual merges into the geometry of the city. The digital processing reinforces the depth of the blacks and the purity of the whites. This 2026 photograph explores the dialogue between man and concrete. The shot ends on the fine line of a metal ramp that crosses the space.
Presentation
French photographer born in 1982, Fabien Olart discovered photography as a teenager through the photos of Lee Miller, Dorothea Lange and Sebastião Salgado.
After studying communications and image, he became a collaborator with the hemis.fr agency, specializing in tourism and travel. Regularly published in the press (Le Monde, Détours en France, Maxi, Marianne…) as well as in publishing (Gallimard, Hachette, Michelin Edition…), his productions are above all produced in Europe.
Member of the Street Photography France collective, it is in black and white that his sensitivity is most expressed. Attracted by urban life, his work is characterized by spontaneous, highly contrasted photography, playing between light and shadow. The human, often solitary, remains an important element of its production, while being integrated into urban or natural landscapes.
