Description
Black and white asserts itself here to sculpt the void. A game of radical contrasts divides the image into two worlds. At the bottom, a dark and dense mass anchors the composition. At the top, a white and pure sky brings absolute clarity.
A solitary silhouette crosses this urban landscape. Its measured walk creates a linear rhythm. It moves along a railing whose vertical bars respond to the verticality of the surrounding trees.
The architecture becomes a graphic frame. The photographer captures the moment with precision. The composition plays on geometry and human solitude within public space.
This 2024 photograph explores the boundary between shadow and light. It highlights the finesse of the architectural lines against the organic silhouette of man. The sharp rendering accentuates the rigor of the drawing and the depth of the black.
Presentation
French photographer born in 1982, Fabien Olart discovered photography as a teenager through the photos of Lee Miller, Dorothea Lange and Sebastião Salgado.
After studying communications and image, he became a collaborator with the hemis.fr agency, specializing in tourism and travel. Regularly published in the press (Le Monde, Détours en France, Maxi, Marianne…) as well as in publishing (Gallimard, Hachette, Michelin Edition…), his productions are above all produced in Europe.
Member of the Street Photography France collective, it is in black and white that his sensitivity is most expressed. Attracted by urban life, his work is characterized by spontaneous, highly contrasted photography, playing between light and shadow. The human, often solitary, remains an important element of its production, while being integrated into urban or natural landscapes.
