This compelling artwork captures the intimate embrace of two figures intertwined in a complex dance of shadows and light. The monochromatic palette emphasizes the smooth contours and muscular tension in their bodies, creating a striking contrast between light and darkness. The artist masterfully uses chiaroscuro to evoke emotions of passion and vulnerability, drawing the viewer into the intense moment shared between the subjects. The composition's tight framing focuses attention on the tactile connection, highlighting the profound physical and emotional interplay. This piece uniquely balances sensuality with artistic restraint, delivering a powerful visual narrative.
"In a few photographers like Mauricio Velez does aesthetic become ethic. Every portrait scene is seamless. Every composition is an impeccable piece: the light, gesture, even the preference of his subjects. Nothing can be discredited of the photographic style nor the clean technique. And for this aesthetic perfection, the message lands to the viewer in its pure state."
Presentation
Mauricio Velez was born and lives in Colombia. He was trained at the European Institute of Design in Italy. Since then, he has worked on a large number of projects in Latin America, the United States and Spain, offering, through his personal prism - images which he seeks to refine the sensitivity and perception of the viewer towards religious icons, art, and the human body.
His work confronts the viewer with a sense of aesthetics that balances between the spiritually inspired and the disturbed.
"In few photographers like Mauricio Velez does aesthetic become ethic. Every portrait scene is seamless. Every composition is an impeccable piece: the light, gesture, even the preference in models. Nothing can be discredited of the photographic style neither the clean technic. And for this aesthetic perfection, the message lends to the viewer in its pure state."
