Other sizes: Large: 69.6 x 109.2 cm. Edition of 6, and Medium: 51 x 80 cm. Edition of 6
This striking still life features a dramatic interplay of textures and tones, evoking a deep sense of classical elegance. Central to the composition are three robust, green artichokes, their intricate leaves vividly contrasting against the dark, subdued background. Positioned on a white cloth, cracked walnuts reveal their complex interiors, adding an organic, rustic element to the scene. The use of a metallic bowl introduces a subtle reflection, enhancing the composition's depth. The artist’s meticulous attention to light and shadow creates a mesmerizing play of highlights, drawing the viewer’s gaze across the entire tableau. This artwork vividly captures the timeless beauty of natural forms, inviting contemplation and appreciation of its harmonious balance.
The bodegones are a pictorial interpretation based on a research project of the famous chef Juan Carlos Franco, on old food recipes of different periods in history. The photographer recreated the images inspired by paintings and images from these eras, also finding inspiration from artists such as Leonardo DA Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, and others. Franco's work has been published in Hello, Vogue Spain, Harper's Bazaar, Vanidades, and many other publications.
