What does large format mean in photography?

Large format photography refers to photographs produced by a film camera that has a frame of 4 x 5 inches or larger. Large format photography allows photographers to increase image quality for large-scale printing. 

What is a large scale photo?

A large scale photo is a photograph that is much larger than the standard small format of around 4 x 6 inches. Large scale photographs can be human sized, like Cindy Sherman's photographic portraits, or even larger.
