I wanted to address what happened to my mural Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. I originally created this image in response to the terrorist attacks at the Bataclan and other parts of Paris in late 2015. At this terrible time, I wanted to create an image of support to show my solidarity with Parisians and the French. Liberty, equality, fraternity – these are all values that I think democratic societies value. I designed it so that it could be interpreted and adopted by the French in general; however, I would like these actions to make sense. When I saw the attack on my mural and read some of the intentions behind it, I realized it was made as a statement to fight against injustice. I stand on the side of people who oppose injustice, especially as it relates to human rights, and my beliefs in peace, harmony and equality - which I strive to uphold embody through my art. If this image is used by people who do not embody these principles, I disapprove of it. I do not want this image to be misused by those who do not believe in its meaning. We are all responsible for shaping the world according to our wishes, and everyone should play their part, including me, to ensure those terms are defined through action. That's why I'm releasing a new version of the print that says: “actions speak louder than words”. If we do this correctly, I think liberty, equality, and fraternity are all positive things to keep in mind and continue to define in the most positive way possible. For all the times these principles have been abandoned or not defined in a positive way, I have included a tear for Marianne. All profits from this new edition will be donated to those who are disadvantaged. I am very opposed to racism, xenophobia and classism, so I want to support everyone who has suffered from the worst aspects of all three things. I believe in using my art to highlight issues and support people working on the ground for those issues. I hope the best intention of this image can be realized as we all work together towards a better future. -Shepard

Shepard Fairey also known by the alias "Obey" was born in 1970 in Charleston, US.
He gets to know the universe of graphic design very early, at age 14, when he draws images to be printed on t-shirts and skateboards. Shepard Fairey is influenced by the work of artists such as Andy Warhol or Russian artist Alexander Rodtchenko.
In the late 1980s, Shepard Fairey (Obey) and a group of friends from the Rhode Island School of Design create a series of stickers and posters with the figure of wrestler Andre the Giant and stick thousands of them on the walls of American cities. "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" is one of the first and most important viral Street Art campaigns, showing the ability and force of this new illegal means of expression.
Shepard Fairey's work became world famous during the U.S. presidential campaign in 2008, with the creation of the poster HOPE of Barack Obama that became an icon of the campaign. The Institute of contemporary art in Boston considered Shepard Fairey (Obey) as one of the best and most influential street artists of our time.

Can I negotiate the price of an artwork?
For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.
To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. If your offer is accepted, it means that your order is confirmed by the gallery and they will prepare the artwork for shipment. If your offer is rejected, you will be refunded the total amount paid automatically. The gallery can also propose a counter-offer for the acquisition of the artwork.

Where can I have my order delivered?
Artsper delivers worldwide!
However, please note that once your order reaches its destination, it may be subject to VAT or other customs fees. These charges are beyond our control and you will be responsible for paying them (this is indicated at the ‘checkout’ first step).
Select the delivery address of your choice. Please make sure that someone is present to receive your order.

Return and cancellation
You can return the artwork without needing to provide a reason or pay a penalty fee up to 14 days after receiving your order.
In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.
Artsper will manage the return of the work and will bear the cost of returns (which will either be paid by you and refunded by Artsper or directly paid by Artsper).
The artwork must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent).
