Description
This artwork presents a vibrant and audacious blend of urban and pop art aesthetics, capturing the viewer's attention with its dynamic composition and color palette. The focal point is a stylized depiction of a porsche, its form partially abstracted and bathed in hues of orange and red, evoking a sense of movement and vitality. The surface of the porsche is adorned with graffiti, featuring bold, expressive lettering that adds an element of rebellious street culture. Above the car, the sky is a wash of pastel colors—pinks, blues, and yellows—creating a dreamlike and ethereal backdrop. These colors bleed into one another, producing a sense of fluidity and energy that contrasts with the solidity of the car. The interplay of light and shadow is masterfully executed, highlighting the car's contours while softening the overall scene, which imbues the piece with an atmospheric depth. Unique to this work is its fusion of real-world elements with abstract expressionism, utilizing drips and splashes that suggest spontaneity and freedom. The use of saturation and contrast not only elevates the composition but also establishes an engaging visual dialogue between chaos and structure. This piece not only celebrates the aesthetic value of urban landscapes but also challenges the viewer to see beauty in the unconventional and overlooked aspects of city life.
Presentation
At the beginning of the '90s, Jörg Döring gets recognized for his oversize paintings of comic heroes such as Donald and Mickey Mouse. Since 2000, the artist is interested more particularly in serigraphy on canvas without however giving up painting.
His works on canvas consist of an alternate superposition of several serigraphic impressions applied by hand and painted again. They offer a variety of colours always reinvented.
The artist proposes variations of themes at the same time familiar and dream-like: fantastic heroes or american and european icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Ursula Andress, Andy Warhol, Audrey Hepburn, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Peter Fonda, Robert Redford.
