Lawrence Weiner is defined as a real self-taught. In 1960, he left New York to cross the U.S.A. in stop: he will sow on its path of small sculptures that he will abandon to the edge of the roads. It will then its 1st exhibition in California in the National Park of Mill Valley. From his return to New York in 1964, Weiner will have to stop questioning the subject ""Paint"" by involving the spectator in the realization of the work. If the works of Lawrence Weiner have sometimes caused the misunderstanding see even the anger of the spectators, they have always intrigued, questioned and nourished the approach deeply innovative of the artist but also the conceptual art movement.
