Description
This vibrant and resolutely colorful artwork captures the luminous essence of Île de Ré and, more broadly, the French west coast. With its assertive graphic style and vivid colors—blue, yellow, and green—it evokes both the salty horizons of Arcachon and the peaceful streets of La Rochelle, depicting a territory rich in contrasts and atmospheres.
At the top of the composition stands the Phare des Baleines lighthouse, a majestic icon of the Île de Ré coastline, while in the center, a church surrounded by coastal paths and areas reminiscent of salt marshes testifies to the diversity of the local architecture and rural landscape. Nearby, a sailboat glides peacefully on the sea, a symbol of freedom and the gentle Atlantic breeze.
In the foreground, a cyclist perfectly illustrates the simple, natural, and authentic life of the beach and coastal paths, emblematic of this region dedicated to the outdoors. Oysters and wine evoke the culinary delights of this coastline, while subtle inscriptions guide the eye and enrich the visual narrative.
The blend of clean lines, geometric shapes, and bold colors infuses the work with a contemporary energy, while simultaneously paying homage to a vibrant island heritage. Presentation
Jean-Philippe Henric, born in 1986 in Perpignan where he lives and works.
Drawing has always been a passion for this Catalan artist. It is naturally that he will pursue studies in History of Art then in Graphic Design in Bordeaux. He exhibited for the first time in an art gallery in 2010. Since then he has created on different supports and in different styles: paper, collage, canvas, ceramics, digital art... Like his production, his inspirations are heterogeneous, from prehistoric art to Jean-Michel Basquiat via cubism or arte Povera. Jean-Philippe Henric is an all-out creative who imagines new graphic works where he constantly seeks an aesthetic balance.
Since 2018 he has continuously exhibited his works in Perpignan, Céret and Collioure and occasionally in Paris.
