Lives and works in The Hague

In the early 1960s, a group of artists emerged who wanted to create abstract art with no deeper meaning. The work had to be systematic, concrete and rational. They opposed the emotional charge of expressionism, and were pioneers in this. Bob Bonies was a prominent member of this avant-garde movement. With the use of contrasting colors and geometric shapes, he seeks balance and order.

Bob Bonies has developed a strong body of work over the years, averse to fashions and trends.
