In BB, Eric Lapierre presents a portrait of magnetic intensity, in which the figure seems to emerge from the material like a blaze of light. Against a deep black background, the face and torso take shape through a profusion of shifting brushstrokes, luminous vibrations, and warm hues blending gold, amber, copper, white, and glowing red accents.
The work strikes the viewer with its powerful presence. Both portrait and apparition, it plays on a subtle tension between figuration and abstraction. The subject reveals itself without ever becoming static, giving way to a sensitive, almost emotional reading, where light seems to emanate from the paint itself.
Here, Eric Lapierre develops a singular pictorial style, grounded in the energy of the brushstroke, the richness of the material, and the vibrancy of color. BB captures the viewer's gaze with its enigmatic elegance and expressive intensity. The painting evokes beauty, fragility, and strength, in a composition that combines visual sophistication with emotional immediacy.
With its vertical format of 75 x 100 cm, this work naturally finds its place in a contemporary art collection seeking pieces that are embodied, powerful, and memorable. BB appeals to collectors who appreciate painting with a soul, capable of creating a lasting presence in space and in the viewer's gaze.
Born in 1972 near Lyon, Eric Lapierre is one of the emerging stars of contemporary art.
He didn't do any artistic studies and left school when he was in ninth grade to do a training at a printing house. He then began a career in a photography laboratory.
He is very familiar with new medias and technologies. He masters photo editing, digital painting and graphic design. This is how he was able to feel fulfilled and began to create. He prints his photos on metallic paper and poses them on aluminum structures.
Famous personages emerged on these structures, rock stars like Bowie, Jimi Hendrix or the Beatles. Portraits on black backgrounds which come to life through color shades and a game of shapes. Eric Lapierre uses as well icons from the popular culture, we can see Chanel n°5 or Audrey Hepburn's face emerge in his pieces.
The characters who appear in his works are updated through colors that run under their digital skin. Gentle colorful explosions, which are fluid and let movement be seen.
Philipe Lapierre has participated in several exhibitions, most of them important ones. In 2013 in particular, he stood out in the exhibition "The Story of the Creative" in New York and the following year in Times Square. He was on the cover of GQ in 2015 with his work "Keith Live" which increased his fame.
