Souheil Sleiman

A haunting atmosphere permeates this monochromatic print. The composition pulses with a deep red hue. Three figures emerge from a dense, textured background. They appear as spectral silhouettes. Their forms blur into a rhythmic pattern of vertical lines. This visual repetition suggests a fence or a forest of thin trunks. The figures hold long tools. They lean forward in a gesture of collective labor. The ink is applied with a raw, visceral quality. It creates a surface that feels weathered and aged. Light filters through the composition in pale, ghostly streaks. These highlights contrast sharply with the saturated crimson tones. The scene evokes a sense of timeless struggle. It balances between abstraction and figuration. The figures seem trapped within the very texture of the medium. This creates a tension between the human presence and the enveloping environment. Every stroke contributes to a mood of somber persistence. The artwork concludes with a rough, grounded base that anchors the figures in a desolate landscape.

This artwork is a Woodcut – water-based block ink.
