The artist employs a technique that recalls the luminosity of Op Art. Each blur suggests a biological rhythm. There is a tension between the organic and the ethereal. The composition functions as a modern memento mori. It invites a quiet meditation on fragility and existence. Nature is presented not as a static image, but as a shifting energy. Emerging as a prominent artist in New York during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Bleckner's paintings, like memento mori, often suggest meditations on the body, health, disease, and especially AIDS-related death.
