Description
Iconic works of Pop Art, Roy Lichtenstein's portraits of women have left their mark on art history through their graphic aesthetic, bold colours and comic-book inspiration.
With Girls vs funny faces, this iconic visual world is reinterpreted as a mosaic composed entirely of faces pulling funny expressions.
Each fragment captures an exaggerated, humorous or absurd expression, revealing a range of spontaneous, uninhibited emotions.
Assembled, these funny faces recreate Lichtenstein's distinctive female portraits, creating a striking contrast between a fixed, idealised image and raw expressiveness.
From a distance: a polished, instantly recognisable Pop Art aesthetic.
Up close: an explosion of expressions and emotions, blending humour and irreverence.
Printed in high definition on 5 mm PMMA acrylic glass, the artwork offers exceptional depth, luminosity and colour intensity. Its transparent edges create an elegant floating effect.
Each fragment is selected, assembled and adjusted by the artist. Miquaseo's artworks are not generated by artificial intelligence: the computer is used solely as a tool to support an artistic process and a composition conceived entirely by the artist.
Created in Miquaseo's studio in Saint-Paul-de-Vence and printed in Italy, the artwork is delivered ready to hang, with an aluminium mounting system included.
Each edition is numbered, bears a printed reproduction of the artist's signature and comes with an official certificate of authenticity.
A personalised dedication can be added to the certificate of authenticity upon request.
Presentation
My journey is visual, but my approach is almost musical. Composing a Miquaseo work is about working with rhythm, silences, ruptures. I am not an image engineer, I am a researcher of tensions.
I often work standing up, for long periods, manipulating, testing, moving every fragment of image as if it had weight. It is a form of active meditation. Nothing is automated. Each work is composed by hand, pixel by pixel, with my eye, my feeling, my doubts too.
I want to remain in this organic relationship with creation, without filters or artifice. No AI here. No magic algorithm. Just a brain, images, and the will to bring forth an unexpected truth.
