Description

Color lithograph on firm laid paper, with dr stamp Stadtische Kunstsammlungen, Bonn.
Hand signed and numbered in pencil.
Edition of 300.
Printed by H. P. Alvermann in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Ref. Poliakoff/Schneider 43.
Prov. Kunsthaus Binhold, Cologne.
Poliakoff was a central figure in the École de Paris (School of Paris). His style relies on asymmetrical, interlocking geometric color blocks that fit together like jigsaw puzzles.
In Composition orange et verte, he balances intense, earthy vibrations using a palette of vivid orange, deep mossy green, muted brown, and black. This particular palette reflects his lifelong fascination with traditional Russian Orthodox icons, where nested planes of contrasting flat pigments are juxtaposed to evoke a sense of deep spiritual resonance, structural weight, and inner luminescence.
