This colorful artwork is from the series Omaggio a Federico Garcia Lorca (Hommage to Federico Garcia Lorca) realized by the artist in 1976. The scene represents a typical composition of the artist's production: a fantastic and imaginary world where different characters live together.: in the higher part there are four women; on the lower part different kind of fantastic figures.

Presentation
Antonio Zancanaro - also known as TONO - (1906-1985). After a promising start in a sports career, he began to paint as a self-taught in 1932. He trained mainly in Florence, in contact with Ottone Rosai, and in Milan, where he attended Ernesto Treccani, Renato Guttuso and other exponents of the anti-fascist cultural environment.
He traveled abroad a lot, especially during the regime, and was always a member of the Communist Party. His production moved above all in the realism field, with pictorial cycles depicting the most humble social realities both in the north and in the south of Italy. Particularly well known was the series by Gibbo, a surreal and caricature character inspired by Mussolini.
