Description
This abstract composition explores a dialogue between geometry and imagination. The gaze travels through a dreamlike landscape where organic forms and precise structures mingle. A bird silhouette crowns the space, dominating pyramidal volumes and terrestrial curves.
The work on material relies on the etching technique and the use of pigment inks. The play of textures creates a tactile depth, rhythmic by hatching and interlace. The ochre and blue tones interweave, evoking ancient sediments or old maps.
The artist here fuses their oriental and Western influences. Surrealism guides the staging of these enigmatic forms. Each line emphasizes a search for superposition and transparency.
Realized in 192, this print testifies to a rigorous technical mastery. It offers a poetic vision where the graphic line defines the space. The visual balance rests on the contrast between saturated areas of pigments and the precision of the engravings.
Presentation
Chahab was born in 1951 in Tehran, residing in France since 1974, he lives and works in Nay (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
Graduated from the Arts décoratifs of Nice, and from the École des Beaux-Arts of Aix-en-Provence, student of Henri Goetz for carburum engraving technique.
Painter, engraver, and sculptor, he plays with registers of various materials and textures. Heir to a dual culture, he likes to evoke through the imagination the ancient sites of his native Iran and during his Western training, his attraction to surrealism leads him to recreate a teeming universe of forms and colors.
