Description
Hand-carved solid oak sculpture, tempera and mixture gilding, 23K gold.
Lace in stained solid oak.
Transport in custom-made wooden crate.
This artwork is a captivating modern sculpture, merging natural and geometric elements. The teardrop-shaped oak frame gives the piece an organic and warm appearance. Inside, an intricate, stained oak structure is woven, creating a network of intriguing hexagonal patterns. The golden spheres at each intersection add a sophisticated elegance, reinforcing the contrast between the warmth of the wood and the coldness of the metal. The clever use of lighting accentuates the cast shadows, transforming the surrounding space into a fascinating play of light. This interplay of materials and light makes the work much more than a static object; it becomes an immersive and dynamic experience. This sculpture is a masterful demonstration of the harmony between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation.
Presentation
Landry Clément: Woodcarver - Leaf gilder A jeweler by training, Landry Clément worked for more than 22 years in the luxury sector. Following an accident at work, the artist had to retrain and to do so undertook a training course as a woodcarver and a gilder at the ESEA (Ecole Supérieur Ebénisterie d'Avignon). Since June 2015, Landry Clément's workshop has been installed in one of the most beautiful villages in Provence in the historic center of Pernes Les Fontaines.
Landry Clément's works are very contemporary, with harmonious shapes and sculpted surfaces. “I really like working with oak and chestnut because I don't stain the woods, I oxidize them, and it is these two species that have the best rendering" Landry Clément. Gold is also a very important material in the artist's work; the small golden touches on his works highlight the unique qualities of wood.
Landry Clément received the title of Master Artisan d'Art in 2024, the highest distinction for the crafts, for his exceptional know-how and the quality of his work.
