Discovery 2018-2, 2018

Kug Kyung Oh

Edition: 3 of 6

"Discovery 2018-2" by Kug Kyung Oh is a sculptural meditation on presence and absence, materiality and dissolution. The elongated bronze form, marked by deep vertical textures, appears as if shaped by time itself—an artifact of an unseen history. With an expressive patina, the piece carries an organic, almost weathered presence, reinforcing the artist's exploration of transformation and resilience.

• A Dialogue Between Solidity and Fragmentation – The deliberate irregularities and voids within the figure create an evocative tension, suggesting both emergence and erosion.

• Hand-Finished Bronze with Unique Patina – The surface treatment lends the sculpture an evolving character, where light interacts dynamically with its textures.

• Limited Edition – One of only six castings, this numbered edition ensures exclusivity while preserving the artist's intent.

Kug Kyung Oh is known for his ability to transform bronze into something that feels both ancient and contemporary. His work resonates with collectors who seek sculptures that engage beyond the visual—evoking introspection, movement, and an almost mythical presence. Discovery 2018-2 offers a profound sense of stillness and contemplation, making it a compelling addition to collections centered on conceptual or abstract figurative art.

"Discovery 2018-2" invites the viewer to engage with the ephemeral nature of existence, rendered timeless in bronze.
