Description
This solid bronze sculpture (180 cm, 45 kg) commands a vertical, almost ethereal presence—like an apparition. Two silhouettes merge into a single line, stretched to the extreme with radical elegance. The piece evokes a couple, a union, or a gentle tension between two beings, yet without narrative: only the essence remains.
Crafted from raw, solid bronze, the work retains a powerful materiality. Its surface bears the traces of the artist's touch—irregularities and rough textures—resembling living skin. Left intentionally raw, the bronze emits a deep, muted glow, far removed from any decorative sheen. This dense, authentic material contrasts with the bodies' almost impossible slenderness, creating a striking balance between actual weight and perceived lightness.
This contemporary sculpture speaks the language of simplification and verticality. Devoid of faces or superfluous details, the form itself becomes a symbol. Through this stylized, abstract figurative art, the human figure transforms into a sign, a presence, a vibration. The duo's soaring posture evokes a motionless stride, an intimacy held upright, a silent unity—the beginning of a beautiful love story.
Thanks to its height, this minimalist modern sculpture engages naturally with its architectural surroundings—whether in a foyer, patio, garden, gallery, or a spacious interior. It serves as an anchor point, a focal mark, and a work that defines the space.
A rare, limited, and numbered edition (8 copies and 4 artist's proofs), this slender sculpture is designed for connoisseurs of contemporary figurative art and timeless forms.
Presentation
Liselotte Andersen is a contemporary French-Danish sculptor born in 1968 in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Based in Provence since 2002, she previously lived in North Africa, Central Asia, Denmark, and Paris. Her professional career at UNESCO, focused on cultural diversity, peace, and the preservation of natural heritage, deeply informs her artistic work.
Primarily self-taught, Andersen refined her technique by taking classes in modeling, stone carving, and painting between 1990 and 2008. She also participated in the open workshops of the École supérieure d'art d'Aix-en-Provence from 2011 to 2014 and completed an apprenticeship in art foundry in 2016.
Her work explores human attitudes and interactions, expressed through clean lines and suggested forms. She favors materials such as bronze, clay, enamels, waxes, and pigments. Her sculptures, often figurative, evoke universal themes such as femininity, couples, family, and spirituality.
His works are also permanently visible in the PromenArts galleries in Île-de-Ré, La Baule and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Notable sculptures include Considerations (2022), a 15cm bronze piece depicting a moment of exchange, and Spirits, a 60cm work exploring the dynamics of movement.
Liselotte Andersen is represented by galleries such as Carré d'artistes and Artsper.
