Description
As with much of Thomas's work, 'Crescent' is a heavily influenced and inspired by the works of Hepworth and Gabo. The greatest challenge of this sculpture for the artist was having the bronze rolled into a really smooth and consistent curve, which is absolutely essential for the sculpture to work. This required a metal smith with great experience using very large power rollers, which are extremely challenging to use to create such a precise and delicate curve
Presentation
Thomas follows a passion for creating form based abstract sculpture which responds to aesthetics and fractals within nature. Exploring such principles as Fibonacci led to an understanding that the stunningly beautiful yet often simple laws that nature follow, result in what could most closely be described as perfection within our environment and are synonymous with aesthetic beauty, balance and perfection.
