Description
This captivating sculpture, resembling an ancient work forgotten at the bottom of the ocean, from the Sunken Worlds collection, depicts a seahorse, crafted from multiple materials with a stony appearance in gray-blue tones, punctuated by golden details. The sinuous body of the sea creature, sculpted on a metal frame, unfolds with artistic elegance, each curve emphasizing its delicate majesty. The finely traced golden ornaments evoke floral motifs that add an organic and refined dimension to the whole. These motifs are strategically placed, creating striking contrasts with the raw texture of the sculpture and the tissue paper. The juxtaposition of the elements and golden accents gives the work a mystical and timeless allure. The meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the depiction of the scales and ornaments, reveals exceptional artistic mastery. This work irresistibly attracts the eye, evoking a symbiosis between nature and imagination, embodying the essence of the underwater world with undeniable grace.
Presentation
Virginie DEVIN's work intrinsically links natural materials such as bronze, cracked clay, stone, and steel, recreating life through contrasting harmonies.
The characteristic scars that streak the silhouettes of the marine works refer to the individual history of each person: to the stories engraved in the flesh, shaping the profiles with smooth lines and sheared details.
An artist and explorer of the elements, her passion and inspiration come from the ocean, both a source and a universal focal point. Recognized for the uniqueness of her work, the press has covered many of her events. She is also the founding president of the Terre de Vrai association, which educates children about the environment.
