Description
White powder-coated aluminum and polished aluminum mounted on a polished aluminum base *Edition of 25.
White and Silver Poppies by Donald Sultan, created in 2021, is a limited edition mixed media sculpture that showcases the artist's minimalist yet impactful approach to botanical forms. The piece is crafted from shaped and painted aluminum, featuring two overlapping poppy silhouettes—one in polished silver and the other in matte white. Mounted on a polished aluminum base, the contrast between the reflective and matte surfaces creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the sculpture's dimensionality. The incised signature, title, and date on the base affirm its authenticity and the artist's refined attention to detail. This work exemplifies Sultan's exploration of organic shapes through industrial materials.
