Description
This wooden artwork captures the natural elegance of a cat in full exploration. Sculpted with precision, the cat curves gracefully, its coiled tail accentuating the fluidity of the movement. The minimalist design highlights the organic lines of the birch wood, each vein adding a unique dimension to the silhouette. The animal appears to observe its environment, creating a subtle interaction between the sculpture and the surrounding space. The composition emphasizes the cat's innate curiosity, symbolized by its attentively sculpted posture. This harmonious balance between simplicity and sophistication gives the work a timeless appeal, captivating the observer with its subtlety and finesse. A piece that evokes both tranquility and vitality, perfect for modern art lovers who appreciate the pure beauty of natural design.
Presentation
Born in 1970, Gaël Rouxeville is the artist of the Living Curve. His work, disseminated in France and internationally, has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions, publications, and has been included in private and public collections (notably that of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia).
Drawing on expertise in industrial design and cabinetmaking, and committed to an eco-responsible approach, his creative process engages memory, the unconscious, and the imagination. For 30 years, he has explored the possibilities of the "Living Curve," a source of inspiration, an expressive language, and the guiding thread of his work. The numerous media, materials, and themes he explores are never an end in themselves, but rather a means of approaching and experiencing a universal consciousness.
His work results in a world of organic, “living" forms, figurative or not; forms that are simple in appearance and open to interpretation, engaging the viewer's memories and imagination. Gaël Rouxeville's art is less intellectual than sensual. It's an invitation to let go, to welcome, to stop searching... Like these curves that stretch and relax, it suddenly seems that time is elongating. The boundaries that appeared so clear become blurred, shifting... The mind then floats, as if levitating; a dance of space and time!
