Daniel Perreu – Forging art in steel

Born in 1962 at the foot of the majestic Pyrenees, Daniel Perreu is a sculptor whose history and talent are intertwined with the material he works with: steel. From a very young age, he learned how to manipulate metal, an instinctive passion that became the fabric of his existence. Trained in the demanding tradition of the Compagnons du Tour de France, he traveled across France for seven years, acquiring exceptional technical mastery and a vision enriched by the know-how of the master craftsmen he met.

After years of running a specialized metalworking company, where he implemented projects of great technical complexity, Daniel Perreu felt an urgent need at the dawn of his fifties: to reconnect with a more personal and artistic expression. He then decided to reinvent his career by fully exploring sculpture, making steel, his favorite material, the heart of his creative approach. This transition marked the beginning of a new life as an artist, forged with the same rigor and passion that had guided him throughout his career.

Steel: a material with a living soul

For Daniel Perreu, steel is not just a simple industrial material. He sees it as a noble, vibrant material that dialogues with the person who shapes it. Under his expert hands, this metal, often perceived as cold, comes to life, becoming warm, expressive, and a bearer of emotions. “Each work is a story, a moment captured in the eternity of steel," he says.

Daniel Perreu appropriates this raw material to reveal his sensitivity. His works invite contemplation, but also touch, as he is convinced that art must be felt by all the senses.

Sculptures carrying human stories

Daniel Perreu's favorite themes are universal and deeply human: femininity, motherhood, love, and the connections that weave our existences. Each sculpture is born in his studio as a unique entity, shaped by hands where experience meets inspiration. Light sketches, sometimes made on the corner of a table, gradually become volumes full of strength and balance, where each curve seems to resonate with a universal emotion.

In this quest, he explores the interaction between the work and its environment. His sculptures, whether exhibited indoors or outdoors, transcend the simple art object to become living presences, capable of dialoguing with those who observe them.

A quest for meaning and emotion

Daniel Perreu's artistic approach is rooted in a search for sensitivity and authenticity. From conception to final processing, each step is marked by a deep respect for the material and attention to detail. For him, creating is not only a question of technique, but an act of introspection, a way to breathe soul into his works.

Today, his creations seduce art lovers who are sensitive to this unique alchemy between brute force and delicacy. His sculptures, which capture both the power and fragility of steel, are distinguished by their ability to transmit timeless emotions.

Art as heritage

Daniel Perreu embodies a generation of artisan-artists who combine tradition and innovation. He forges in steel not only works of art, but also a message: that of a man who knew how to transform an inert material into a vehicle of emotion and beauty.
