Berit Hildre

Berit Hildre, a Norwegian artist born in 1964, is renowned for her unique ability to transform material into light. Self-taught, she delves into the essence of humanity through her art, with a deeply spiritual approach. Her work often features child-like figures, thoughtful women, and a quest for eternity, all of which are central to her artistic universe. These figures, both vulnerable and timeless, are recurring subjects in her creations.

Hildre is fascinated by the fragility and beauty of the world, symbolized through her depiction of little girls, who she describes as flowers that are fresh and beautiful, yet vulnerable to the forces that can shatter this small miracle. In her art, little girls believe in angels, fairies, princes, and magicians, creating a whimsical and poetic universe.

She captures the innocence and purity of childhood, often portraying everyday objects imbued with magic, such as strange pebbles, angel feathers, hazelnuts fallen from trees, and secrets carefully held in the palm of the hand. Through her work, Berit Hildre invites viewers to reflect on the fragile and ephemeral beauty of life, while also capturing the spirit of childhood and imagination.

Her work is firmly rooted in a contemporary artistic approach, where human emotions are transmuted through unique artistic techniques. The artist, with her poetic vision and deep connection to the human soul, explores universal themes of vulnerability, purity, and magic
