In OSMOSE 21, Paul Gallaud continues his reflection on the reflection as a material in itself. Painted on Dibond mirror, the work transforms a usually utilitarian support into a sensitive surface, reactive to light and the presence of the viewer.
A tight mesh of vertical lines brings forth, at the center of the composition, a rosy and coppery glow, almost solar, which seems to diffuse from within the mirror itself. This changing hue resonates with the ambient reflections of the exhibition space, so that the perceived color varies according to the time, the natural or artificial light, and the position of the person looking.
This voluntary instability places the work at the crossroads of optical art, geometric abstraction, and kinetic art: the viewer is not a simple observer, but becomes one of the elements that make the piece exist.
OSMOSE 21 reflects the technical demand of Paul Gallaud. Its format suits as well a private collection as a contemporary interior design.
