Description
Floating weightlessly half an inch off the wall, Ender Martos's The Hexagon of Hope acts less like a static sculpture and more like a quiet portal of color and light. Concentric geometric frames step gently inward, casting soft, electric halos of mint green and neon rose along their pristine edges. As you move across the room, these precisely layered acrylic contours shift, generating an optical glow that bends, breathes, and ignites with every new vantage point.
Rooted in childhood wonder and the Venezuelan kinetic legacy of masters like Soto and Cruz Diez, Martos uses translucent geometry to deliver a poetic thesis: empathy requires participation. To uncover the full depth of this piece, we must physically shift our perspective. The overlapping, luminous tiers remind us that connection thrives not in rigid sameness, but in the vibrant interplay of distinct points of view. Warm, pristine, and deeply inviting, it is a living artwork that rewards quiet daily contemplation.
Presentation
Ender Martos is an award-winning artist who resides in Austin, Texas. He is best known for creating impactful sensory experiences of optical movement that engage the viewer's curiosity and perception.
Ender was born in Mérida, a city located in the Venezuelan Andes. Ender believes that having grown up in one of the most diverse countries profoundly impacted his work. Ender is a new representative of the Venezuelan Op art movement started by masters Jesus Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Gego, and Alejandro Otero.
Martos's colorful three-dimensional installations have been celebrated all over the world. His work has been exhibited in Chicago, Mexico City, Monterrey, Miami, Houston, Marfa, Dallas, Austin, and other cities. Multiple transnational corporations have commissioned Ender's public art installations (Facebook/Meta, Charles Schwab, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, SpaceX, etc.), as well as cities and municipalities.
Ender earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2023, Ender was selected as one of the Top 25 Creative Revolutionaries by the prestigious CODAworx, which judges the best public art created in the United States and internationally. He is represented by Ellio Fine Art in Houston, TX, DHV Artworks in Dallas, TX, Artspace111 in Fort Worth, TX, and Artier Fine Art in Palm Springs, California.
