Description
Floating weightlessly half an inch off the wall, Ender Martos's Circles of Quiet Questions reads as a living portal of light rather than a static sculpture. Look closely: a delicate grid of raised circular discs rests atop a luminous acrylic tondo, casting a secret halo of warm, neon glow along its hidden rim. As you move, its pristine geometry shifts into a soft choreography of pastels, with whispers of lavender, mint, and electric pink dancing across the wall.
Rooted in childhood wonder and the rich Venezuelan kinetic legacy of Soto, Cruz Diez, and Gego, Martos uses precisely layered acrylics to remind us that empathy requires participation. To uncover the full depth of this piece, we must physically shift our vantage point. The overlapping forms and refracted light transform simple geometry into an intimate dialogue, proving that connection flourishes through our vibrant differences. Radiant, hopeful, and deeply human, it is a work that rewards daily contemplation.
Presentation
Ender Martos is an award-winning artist who resides in Austin, Texas. He is best known for creating impactful sensory experiences of optical movement that engage the viewer's curiosity and perception.
Ender was born in Mérida, a city located in the Venezuelan Andes. Ender believes that having grown up in one of the most diverse countries profoundly impacted his work. Ender is a new representative of the Venezuelan Op art movement started by masters Jesus Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Gego, and Alejandro Otero.
Martos's colorful three-dimensional installations have been celebrated all over the world. His work has been exhibited in Chicago, Mexico City, Monterrey, Miami, Houston, Marfa, Dallas, Austin, and other cities. Multiple transnational corporations have commissioned Ender's public art installations (Facebook/Meta, Charles Schwab, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, SpaceX, etc.), as well as cities and municipalities.
Ender earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2023, Ender was selected as one of the Top 25 Creative Revolutionaries by the prestigious CODAworx, which judges the best public art created in the United States and internationally. He is represented by Ellio Fine Art in Houston, TX, DHV Artworks in Dallas, TX, Artspace111 in Fort Worth, TX, and Artier Fine Art in Palm Springs, California.
