Founded in 2007 by Valérie-Anne Giscard d'Estaing, Galerie XII is structured around two main axes. On the one hand, it champions contemporary narrative photography, which places the image at the service of storytelling and the staging of reality or imagination. On the other hand, it supports the emergence of new photographic forms of expression, where the medium engages in dialogue with other disciplines—painting, drawing, collage, embroidery, weaving, textile arts, sculpture, or video—to push the boundaries of representation and redefine the very notion of the image. The emerging and established artists with whom the gallery collaborates are presented both in its exhibition spaces and in institutional exhibitions or at international art fairs, thus reflecting the richness and diversity of these approaches. In 2018, Galerie XII opened a space in Santa Monica, California, at the heart of a burgeoning art scene. Its mission is to promote both European and American artists through solo and group exhibitions. A member of the Professional Committee of Art Galleries and AIPAD, Galerie XII develops collaborations with curators and institutions, solidifying its role as a significant player in the contemporary photography scene. The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 2 pm to 7 pm, Saturday from 12 pm to 7 pm, and by appointment.
