Description
This black and white portrait captures a suspended moment. A young boy stands in profile, his gaze directed towards the horizon. He wears an antique helmet, whose metallic structure and dark plume contrast with the fragility of his body.
The composition plays on a rigorous sobriety. The neutral background accentuates the silhouette and highlights the finesse of the lines. This staging questions the passage from childhood to adulthood. The costume, a symbol of strength and war, seems disproportionate to the subject's vulnerability.
The light, soft and diffuse, delicately models the skin and the reflections of the metal. The technical rendering of the C-print pull offers remarkable precision in the shades of gray. The image oscillates between reality and imagination, evoking a mythological figure transposed into a minimalist space.
Realized in 2007, this photograph explores the duality between innocence and armor. The overall work is characterized by visual harmony and great plastic clarity.
