Biography

Jiji is a Chinese artist born in 1975. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai and turned, later on towards industrial design. He worked in the fashion world for many years before launching his own brand "Hi Panda" in 2002, which recently opened a subsidiary in France and London.

There are more than 50 stores that sell the designers' eccentric creations in China and Japan.

His favorite character is a panda with a sullen expression, which represents according to the artist Chinese youth; cool, cold and addicted to fashion. Strongly influenced by the pop art of Andy Warhol and 70s-80s rock, Jiji developed an easily recognizable style which combines the rigor of fashion design and flash colors, vanguard and Eastern tradition.
The Facial expressions of Jiji's pandas are inspired by the daily life of Chinese youth born after 1980, a generation completely different from their precedent ones, a generation that loves music, sports, hip-hop culture, have a sarcastic spirit, self-centered and flighty.

His meeting with Bernard Arnaud was a turning point for him and led him to exhibit his work at the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton in Paris. Le Palais de Tokyo dedicated an exhibition to him in 2010 as well.
Jiji has realized several works for big brands such as a Christmas Mascot for Sephora.
