Aboudia, whose real name is Aboudia Abdoulaye Diarrassouba, is an Ivorian painter born in 1983. After his graduation from the Abidjan Technical Center of Applied Arts in 2005, Aboudia witnessed the armed conflict in 2011 and particularly the battle of Abidjan, that marked him deeply. Aboudia lives and works in Abidjan.
Aboudia represents in his paintings things he has witnessed during the months of war: violent crowds, terrified civilians, dead people, weapons... His paintings impress by their colourful, wild, childlike style and the very large formats; they are sometimes up to four meters long. His works are inspired by the graffiti on the walls of Abidjan made by young people expressing their anger or their dreams.
Like a street painter, Aboudia captures the energy in the streets of Abidjan; he often creates series of paintings. He is one of the rising starts of African.
