Biography
From a very young age growing up in Havana (Cuba), Abelardo developed a strong sense of creativity. Surrounded by the warmth and colour of the Caribbean, he graduated from art school with a desire to explore, experimenting with painting, sculpture and ceramics in order to create his own expressive style.
Collages of paper, wood, gems, found objects and cardboard unite on canvas where amid the variation of volumes, colours and materials, the people and animals of Abelardo’ imagination come alive with punch and force whilst always retaining an element of grace.
