Biography
José García Cordero (born 1951 in Santiago, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican artist who lives and works in Paris. He studied painting with the Dominican master Hernández Ortega. In 1977, fleeing the dictatorship of Balaguer, he moved to Paris in a voluntary exile where he studied contemporary history at the University of Vincennes.
During his career, he has received many awards, such as the "Medal of Merit" granted by the French Senate for his contributions to Latin American culture, the "Gold Medal" of the 1st and 3rd editions of the Museum of the Caribbean Biennial. Modern art of Santo Domingo, among others. Her works have been exhibited in group and individual exhibitions in galleries, museums, art fairs and institutions in Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States.

Recently, he had his first solo show in New York, "Tales of the Caribbean Nights" at a new opening of the Lyle O. Reitzel NY branch on the 11th until July 30th, 2016. This exhibition is a body composed of 13 paintings, mostly unpublished, made of acrylic on linen, covering the period 2005-2016.
