Another Way of Seeing - Ofer Nov

Seeing from a bird's-eye view often implies that one has an image of the broad picture while  disregarding the small details. Ofer Nov's aerial photography portrays exactly the opposite: Ofer focuses on the details, and we, as observers, complete the picture. Symmetrical lines, whether in black and white or full color, become a plowed field; a pool of water beside rows of dots is actually an olive-tree-covered hillside; winding, twisted stripes portray mountains and valleys; building-block towers are a city.

"What is truly important I cannot see". Emulating the Little Prince's timeless message, Ofer  suggests we re-examine seemingly familiar images. The camera's lens portrays our 3D vision  as two-dimensional, whereas Ofer adds another layer: objects as they appear from above,  leaving the obvious at ground-level and allowing one's imagination to join the camera in  flight.

"You know what you're seeing? Look again", says Ofer.

Seen in their entirety, Ofer's photographs translate into an original visual language, for  which one doesn't need a dictionary. The only thing necessary is to open oneself to another  way of seeing.

Ofer Nov is an industrial, advertising and aerial photographer. He lives on a farm in the  Galilean village of Yodfat. Recently, Ofer has been involved in cartographic aerial  photography, following thirty years as an advertising and industrial photographer, as well as  a lecturer in the Design and Photography departments at the Jezreel Valley Academic  College.

Ofer is a farmer at heart, always and forever, and a motorcyclist who loves touring Israel and the entire world.
