Kengo Takahashi

Biography

Kengo Takahashi was born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1982. He completed his undergraduate degree and masters at the Tokyo University of the Arts, before receiving a doctorate in metal casting from the same institution in 2022. 


His most notable work is his Flower Funeral series, in which he created animal skulls from fragile aluminum flowers. Through his work Takahashi aims to explore the intersection between decaying and blossoming.

Recently, Takahashi has exhibited his work at the SEIZAN Gallery, Tokyo (2022), the Miyazaki Art Centre, Kyoto (2021), and the SEIZAN Gallery, New York (2020). In 2019, Takahashi received the Tansuiou Award at the Satoh Artcraft Research and Scholarship Foundation.
