Biography
Miyu Ai is a contemporary Japanese artist born in the Aichi prefecture, Japan, who develops an artistic practice at the intersection of acrylic painting, digital art, and contemporary abstract art. She began creating her works autodidactically in December 2020, while pursuing her professional activity in early childhood. Her artistic journey stems from a desire to express her emotions through creation, particularly after the loss of her parents, an event that has become a major source of inspiration in her work.
Miyu Ai's universe is characterized by sensitive representations of female faces, created in digital art, where the artist explores the expressions, emotions, and inner presence of her subjects. She uses an iPad and an Apple Pencil to design her digital works, particularly working on textures, colors, and compositions intended to highlight the personality of her figures. In parallel, her acrylic painting practice leans towards abstraction, with subtle color mixtures seeking to provoke an emotional and contemplative experience in the viewer.
Since 2021, Miyu Ai has shared her creations on digital platforms and is gradually developing her presence in the international art scene. Her work has been presented at several collective exhibitions and international art events, notably at the MADS Gallery in Milan, Italy in 2021 and 2022, at Galeria Azur in Madrid, Spain in 2022, as well as at the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto, Japan, as part of the 24th AIDS charity exhibition. Her works have also been presented in Paris during the Art Shopping – Carrousel du Louvre with the Artio gallery and as part of the JCAT Online SOLO Exhibition in 2022.
Through an intuitive and emotional approach, Miyu Ai places her approach in a search for inner beauty, memory, and the transmission of human feelings. Her work combines the possibilities offered by new artistic technologies with a sensitivity derived from traditional painting, creating a dialogue between digital art, contemporary portraiture, Japanese abstraction, and personal artistic expression. Her works thus explore the relationship between color, emotion, and identity, making her an emerging artist on the Japanese contemporary art scene.
